Outside Plant Field Designer
Responsibilities of the Field Designer includes taking accurate and detailed field survey notes for design of buried, underground and aerial copper and fiber cable systems and associated plant. Candidates must be familiar with OSP Engineering standards, practices, and construction methods. Previous experience with AT&T Systems is preferred.
- Be able to perform self-check on work and quality control own work for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with the client's standards.
- Be able to understand and apply accurate billing standards to work performed.
- Must be able to work closely with other engineers and customers to ensure quality and timely project completion.
- Must be well organized and able to prioritize tasks.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications and CAD applications.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision, be self-motivating, and be detail oriented.
- Communicate clearly, and in a positive manner, both internally to SOC, and externally with the customer.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Be able to perform field surveys and accurately capture field data as required for design. This includes correctly identifying field conditions that will have an impact on design.
- Be able to identify items of plant including both copper and fiber plant in all work environments including Aerial, Underground and Buried. and accurately depicting them on field notes.
- Accurately record the data and measurements using the standards and symbols required by the client to accurately relate the field conditions.
- Accurately relate field conditions via paper drawings, electronic devices, photographs, or other formats specified, back to the project manager and/or client.
- Knowledgeable/understanding of OCALC requirements.
- Be able to maintain access and interact with information systems specific to supporting AT&T in the Southeast, such as ARAMIS, Waldo, AUTOCAD, etc.
- Must be able to develop an understanding of, and comply with, all client requirements and OSP practices for design standards.
Responsibilities required for this job include:
- Communicate with designers to determine needs of the job.
- Conduct job site research.
- Determine best pathway for cable placement and inform designer of any roadblocks.
- Deliver neat and accurate field notes to the designer.
- Identify other utilities that may be in conflict and note in field notes.
