Fiber Splicer-Southern Illinois area

Requirements:

Install, prep and splice Fiber Optic Cabling in ISP and OSP environments Splice fiber optic cables including both loose tube and ribbon cables Operate technical equipment, including but not limited to a laptop computer, OTDR and fusion splicing equipment for single and ribbon fiber Read and interpret existing fiber records, on maps or in the field. Complete daily production reports to document work performed; track and communicate daily production and materials. Construct proper splice case, including but not limited to grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage, and sealing. Able to troubleshoot and resolve problems discovered on the job Follow design engineer instructions.

Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record Splicing experience.

Must be able to pass a pre-employment background and drug test.

    Required Knowledge and Skills:

    • Must Have: Fiber splicing, Driver's License, Telecommunication, Blueprint Reading, Problem Solving Skills

    • Have a solid working knowledge of equipment and plant located in the field and in use by the client, and correctly identify which items need to be documented.
    • Must be able to work with minimal supervision, be self-motivating, and be detail oriented.
    • Be able to perform self-check on work and quality control own work for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with the client's standards.
    • Be able to understand and apply accurate billing standards to work performed.
    • Must be able to work closely with other engineers and customers to ensure quality and timely project completion.
    • Must be well organized and able to prioritize tasks.
    • Communicate clearly and in a positive manner, both internally to SOC, and externally with the customer.

    Required Knowledge and Skills:

    • Be able to read DOT road plans, cross section and drainage profiles. This includes correctly identifying conflicts that will have an impact on design.
    • Must be proficient with a CAD application such as AutoCAD, MicroStation. Also, must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
    • Be able to design facilities for both copper and fiber plant utilizing current technology and systems.
    • Must be able to develop an understanding and comply with all client requirements and practices for design standards for OSP.
    • Be able to maintain access and interact with information systems specific to supporting AT&T in the Southeast, such as ARAMIS, OSPCM, Imagine, etc.
    • Accurately relate field conditions via paper drawings, electronic devices, photographs, or other formats specified, back to the project manager and/or client.
    • Accurately record the data and measurements using the standards and symbols required by the client to accurately relate the field conditions.

    What you will do:

    • Experienced in installing, prepping, and splicing Fiber Optic Cabling in ISP and OSP environments. They must also be able to read and interpret diagrams and blueprints.
    • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working on job sites
